Tristan Fabriani is indisposed.
Special report by Ann Trios.

After three nights of high drama in Inverness the results are in. Tryst Theatre ‘C’ have lifted the magnificent Wheatley Tassie with their production of Art.

The team arrived in high spirits and, thanks to the staff of Eden Court, enjoyed a smooth technical rehearsal. The cast thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and judging by their reaction the audience did too.

“A masterclass…” said adjudicator Walker Ewart, “…in furniture moving.”

The icing on the cake was the Connie Fisher Trophy for director Alan Clark who - alongside Brian Paterson and Craig Murray - also starred in the production.

Special thanks to sponsors the GlenDronach Distillery, whose contribution was invaluable to our celebrations.

Tryst ‘C’ now go forward to represent Scotland at the British Final Festival of One Act Plays at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon on 1st and 2nd of July.

But wait, there’s more!

In the same week, Tryst also took part in the East Kilbride Rep Festival of One Act Plays – and learned the result midway through their celebrations in Inverness.

Art was the winner once again, collecting the John McNicol Cup for first place and the Betty McAuley Trophy for best staging.

Brian Paterson, Craig Murray and Stuart Reid (who appeared in Truth, Beauty and Contact Lenses) all received a nod in the Best Actor category, with the Alf Davidson Cup eventually going to Alan Clark for his moody portrayal of Marc.

Congratulations are also due to the team behind Truth, Beauty and Contact Lenses. Their production of Harry Glass’ battle of the sexes piece earned them the Whitemoss Trophy for third place.

For those of you who still haven’t seen it, there’s another opportunity to see Truth, Beauty and Contact Lenses when it appears as part of a double bill of entertainment at Falkirk Town Hall later this month.

A Night With Tryst, also featuring Arthur Miller’s Some Kind of Love Story, an erotically-charged game of cat and mouse, takes place on Saturday 21st May. Tickets £7 (£5) from the Steeple Box Office on 01324 506850.
