SCDA Festival Roundup
10/5/2006
"Mary
Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off" was Tryst's entry
to the SCDA One-Act Festival this year.
This innovative take on the demise of Queen Mary by Liz Lochhead won
first place at the Falkirk District round of the festival, earning the
club the East Stirlingshire District Trophy and a ticket to the Eastern
Divisional Final. Director Jim Allan also received the Barker Quaich for
Best Production.
The trip to St. Serf's Hall in Edinburgh for the Divisional Final saw
Tryst take home the Bob Buchannan Salver for third place, while the striking
"scaffold" set won the club the Say Trophy for Stage Decor.
The
club also had an entry into the SCDA Eastern Division Full Length Festival
in the form of "The Steamie" by Tony Roper.
Playing to three packed audiences in November, the production proved
to be more than a load of Galloway's mince by winning the Fraser Neal
Trophy.
